Research interests

Markéta Fránková studied Botany and Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in Biology at the Faculty of Science MU Brno. She succesfully completed her Ph.D. studies in Botany by defence of the work Ecology and taxonomy of diatoms of Western Carpathian spring fens in 2010. She works at the Institute of Botany since 2006. She focuses on ecology and taxonomy of diatoms in freshwater ecosystems and water quality evaluation based on algal indicators. She started with phytobenthos of oligotrophic ecosystems and now deals with phytoplankton and epiphyton of the Dehtář Fishpond and other Southbohemian fishponds within the project COST.
